What to use instead of Mealime

Mealime shuts down on October 21, 2026. MealBright is a meal planning app for iPhone and the web that covers what most people used Mealime for: somewhere to store recipes, a weekly meal plan, and a grocery list shared live with the people you live with. It also imports recipes from any recipe site, from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook posts, from photos of cookbook pages, and from pasted text. MealBright is independent, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mealime.

First, save your recipes

Mealime has no export button. Our free Save button puts your recipes and full favorites into one file on your computer in a minute or two, and it never asks for your Mealime password. Do this before October 21, whichever app you move to next.

Save my Mealime recipes

What comes across

  • Recipes you typed into Mealime yourself, with ingredients and steps
  • Your favorites from Mealime’s own recipes, in full: ingredients, steps, cook time, and nutrition
  • Servings and cook times
  • Mealime’s photos, if you import before October 21, 2026

What doesn’t

  • Mealime recipes you cooked but never favorited. Mealime lists those by a number that can’t be looked up, so favorite the ones you want before you save your file.
  • Your Mealime meal plan history and shopping list. The file keeps your notes, ratings, and recent plans, but MealBright doesn’t import those yet.
  • Mealime’s photos after October 21, 2026, when its photo server goes away. Recipes still import in full, without pictures.

What MealBright doesn’t do

  • There is no Android app. Android phones and computers use the web version at app.mealbright.app, with the same account and data.
  • The Plus plan isn’t on sale yet. Everything in the free plan works today, and stays free.
  • There is no nutrition tracking, calorie counting, or diet plan.

What it does instead

  • Store recipes without typing them. Paste a link, share a social post, snap a photo of a recipe card, or paste text. It comes in as clean ingredients and steps.
  • A weekly plan. Drop recipes onto the days you’ll cook them, as few or as many as you like.
  • One grocery list for the household. Built from the plan, sorted by aisle, updated on everyone’s phone at once, and working with no signal in the store.
  • Cooking mode. One step at a time, with the amounts in the step, and the screen stays awake.
  • Optional AI. Tidy a messy recipe, with every change shown before you save, or make a photo for a recipe that has none. Photos made by AI are labeled as AI.

Questions

Can I bring my Mealime recipes to MealBright?

Yes. Mealime has no export button, so we made a free one: the Save my Mealime data button puts your recipes and favorites into one file on your computer, and MealBright imports that file from Settings, then Your data. It never asks for your Mealime password.

When does Mealime shut down?

October 21, 2026. Save your file before then. You can import it into MealBright any time after, though Mealime’s photos only come across if you import before that date.

Is MealBright free?

Storing your recipes, planning the week, your grocery list and cooking mode are free, with no card and no time limit, plus 5 AI cleanups a month. Plus adds everyone in your household on their own phone, collections, your full planning and cooking history, a list for each store, and a lot more AI. You pick what you pay for it: $2.99, $4.99 or $7.99 a month, and all three unlock exactly the same app. The first 30 days are free.

Do I need an iPhone?

No. MealBright is an iPhone app, and it also runs in any web browser at app.mealbright.app with the same account and the same data. There is no Android app today, so Android users use the web version.

Is MealBright made by Mealime?

No. MealBright is independent, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mealime.
